La-Hasil's novel is the story of faith, belief, prejudice, and harsh social realities. It is about the life events of two married couples “Catherine, Mazhar” and “Maryam, Zaid”. Umera co-relates both couples' life stories in a wonderful way.The first story is about Catherine, a British girl, and a Pakistani boy Mazhar. The story explained the life challenges of Catherine before and after converting to Islam and Mazhar’s attitude towards her after knowing her past.
The other side of the story is about Maryam, a selfish and rude girl who was adopted by Catherine after his arrival in Pakistan, and a boy Zaid. the writer beautifully portrays how greed and materialistic thinking destroy the relationship.
This novel also enlights how many Muslims think of themselves as the caretaker of Islam and they make decisions about other’s life without giving it a second thought.
The novel also explains that if someone connects himself with Allah, then he or she can pass any obstacle with faith in the Almighty.
